What Builders learn

Four core subjects in real depth, with arts, health and character woven through the week — the same six strands on every band page, at this band's level.

📐

Mathematics

Ratios, proportions and integers give way to expressions, equations and geometry — the road to Algebra I, walked at mastery pace. No moving on at 70%: Builders re-attack until it clicks.

✍️

English Language Arts

Argument is the core skill: claim, evidence, counterclaim. Literature with real themes, research papers with real sources, and grammar taught as the engineering of clear thought.

🧬

Science

Life science, physical science and earth science as full lab courses: cells and ecosystems, forces and chemistry basics, plate tectonics and space — with lab notebooks graded like scientists'.

🏛️

Social Studies

World history from ancient civilizations to the modern map, and American civics from the Constitution outward: how governments, economies and citizens actually work.

💻

Electives & Making

Coding, design, music and world-language foundations rotate through the week — Builders sample widely before high school asks them to choose.

🧭

Character & SEL

Identity, integrity and digital citizenship. Builders learn to manage their own schedule — and to say the three protected sentences without shame, at any age.

THE OMNI SIGNATURE · FINANCIAL LITERACY

The finance core — anchored at Grade 7

In this band the signature becomes a core: income and careers; budgeting on real numbers; needs vs wants and advertising literacy — reading the persuasion aimed at you; saving, bank accounts and keeping records; credit basics, honestly, including its cost; and risk and insurance in plain form. Builders leave this band able to run their own money on paper before life asks them to run it for real.

A school day in Builders

A real school day — seven full hours, 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This is one sample day; the rhythm repeats all year.

7:00
Advisory & Planning — The week's map, today's targets, one adult who knows their name and their goals.
7:20
Mathematics — Concept, worked examples, deliberate practice.
8:35
Movement & PE — Fitness as a subject, not a break from subjects.
9:00
Science + Lab — Theory meets the bench: observe, measure, record.
10:15
Snack & Reset — Fuel and fresh air.
10:30
English Language Arts — Reading, discussion, writing with evidence.
11:45
Social Studies — History and civics — sources, maps, debate.
12:30
Lunch — A real lunch hour.
13:15
Elective / Project Block — Coding, design, language or the band project — Builders choose, Builders finish.
13:50
Closing Check — Knowledge check and tomorrow's first step, written down.

By the end of Builders

Outcomes we teach toward — and check, student by student, before anyone moves on.

✅ Ready for Algebra I with genuine fluency, not exposure

✅ Writes sourced arguments that survive counterarguments

✅ Runs and records real lab investigations

✅ Explains how the U.S. government and economy work

✅ Manages a weekly schedule and a long project independently

The week at a glance

Four core subjects every day; electives rotate in the project block; a Friday seminar ties the week's subjects together around one big question — and the week's mastery checks decide what gets re-taught, not the calendar.

The day program — in minutes

Omni accounts for its day the way America's leading online schools do: programmed minutes, banded by age. Inside the 420-minute school day (7:00 AM – 2:00 PM), instruction runs at this band's level:

The Grades 6–8 day program — 300 instructional minutes a day

Subject blockMinutes a dayMinutes a year (180 days)

A period model: 300 instructional minutes, with advisory, lunch, transitions and closing making up the rest of the 420.

How learning is checked

The assessment rhythm is the school's skeleton — the same cadence at every grade, at this band's weight:

✓ A knowledge check inside every session — learning is verified the day it happens✓ A block check at the close of every 5-session block✓ A unit test at the close of every unit (a unit is about 18 sessions)✓ Benchmark assessments three times a year in math and language arts; a science benchmark in Grade 8✓ Semester finals and end-of-course exams — the full high-school rhythm, started early✓ The 80% rule: no student moves on below 80% mastery. The material is re-taught, not waved through

The grain of the year

One session is one day's lesson in a subject, so a daily subject holds about 180 sessions a year. Sessions group into blocks of 5 and units of about 18 — ten units per subject, per year, paced across 36 weeks in two semesters. The main instruction video in each session runs 5–10 minutes, the band America's leading schools teach in; shorter segments support it inside the session. Nothing here is improvised: the year's minutes, units and checks are counted before the first lesson is written.
